two months later

i graduated.  finally.
thesis is over and hopefully i'll have a job soon.

there was no time to post while thesis was coming to a close.  there wasn't much time for anything.  final thesis presentations were on May 12 and 13.  I went on the 13th around 4pm.  i slept the next day.  the day after that (the 15th) i moved into
my new apartment with allison.  she moved a lot of her stuff in that day and the rest was moved in the following sunday.  my dad arrived in philly on the 20th.  my mom arrived in philly on the 21st.  graduation was on the 22nd at 4pm.  i was nominated for 2 awards, didn't get either one because i didn't build a building, but graduated cum laude (a surprise to me).  i did have the best outfit tho...
allison left for india the next day.  she won't be back until mid july.  we miss her.  i got sick the day of graduation.  i cried so much that week over several things and lost my voice for a little more than a week.
life is slow in the apartment with windows and so many hours existing in the days now.  i go on interviews, send out resumes, talk to friends and family, i got a cat, houseplants, and some curtains.  things aren't too bad.

his name is apollo.  he's my new assistant for little onion productions.  this is a kibble paying intern position.

coffee and pin cushions

busy bee, working towards the culmination of my undergraduate education...

what you see is convoluted foam mattress covers cut up, pinned together, forming this urbaNomad pack that i've been working on... for a year.

a very happy un-spring break / spring un-break to you

i've been on spring a total of 3 days so far... saturday, sunday, and monday. saturday i was at studio for 9 hours, monday for 9.5 hours, and monday for 6 hours. however, if you count the amount of time i was actually working on things, you can add roughly 2 hours to saturday and sunday and 4.5 hours to monday/tuesday. sigh. i don't call this a break.

and what have i been doing all this time might you wonder? portfolio. apparently i'll be needing that to land myself a decent paying job so that i can begin paying off those pesky school loans that i was so excited to get.

plans for the rest of this week? finish portfolio. update resume. upload resume to monster. write cover letters. buy printer. print resume + letters. send resume + letters. print portfolio. bind portfolio. visit a friend for a day. go to new york with allison for a day. work a day for boss. cast my back in plaster in 4 positions. do laundry. clean apartment. send packages. design thesis. fix thesis colors. update thesis paper. send thesis paper to professor.

is that all? maybe.

in the meantime... the latest tickle who may or may not be done. either way, he already found his way into my portfolio. maybe he'll get a make-over at a later date.

trunks that house

my thesis(i'm an architecture student) relates to luggage. that's all i'll say to explain the arrival of a steamer trunk, circa 1920, to my studio.

new tickle on the way... this one with a slight beak.

and mr. toby tickle wanted to inhabit the trunk so badly that i had to make him a little house.

now if i could just do the work i'm supposed to be doing...

the cat is out of the bag - and now i'm in it

the story that is the thesis that began with my xl timbuk2 bag that holds my life (or so i say). and beyond beleif, it contains me too!

innocently, i wondered if i could actually fit inside my bag like people say i probably can... and so, the experiment began.

sitting in it seemed easy enough, but i wanted more... and so i ventured deeper.

and then this happened:

before i knew it i was clipped in, being dragged out of my studio, carried away by the very bag that is usually carried by me. i think it was theraputic to switch roles and may even revisit this.

my vintage samsonite suitcase and i do not have quite the same relationship.
